The
firewall is comprised of 1/4" 12 ply birch plywood epoxied to the
fuselage. Covering the plywood is a layer of 1/16" Fiberfrax and
.016" Stainless steel sheet. The fiberfrax is glued on with a special
adhesive. The sheet of SS will be held on with SS truss head Screws.
Here is the support braces
for the firewall with the center vertical for the nose gear bracket.
The
1/4" birch plywood epoxied on and cured. A coating of special fiberfrax
adhesive has been painted on awaiting the 1/16" fiberfrax, to be
followed by the stainless steel sheet.
I
spent most of a day cutting and forming the .016" stainless steel
firewall. The stainless steel truss screws are spaced 2" on center.
The edge lip is 1/4" wide. The center tunnel is for the exhaust and
engine heated air to escape. The stainless follows under the tunnel for
10" to protect the floor from the extreme heat of the exhaust.
