This is one of the only pictures I took of my engine cores. They were so hideous that I thought I might break my camera. But I know that there is a diamond in the ruff inside. I purchased four 110hp engine cores. One will be a "stock" 2700cc engine conversion. The other will be a 3100cc big bore and have all the trick parts. That engine will come later and be a complete engine swap in the aircraft. |

Here is one of the engines disassembled and at Knight Hawke Experimental Aircraft to make the Prop Hub's and starter setup for the two engines. I made a top cover plate from some 1/4" 6061-T651. I clamped the stock baffle to the top plate marked the outside with a sharpie pen then drilled all the holes while it was still clamped. |

All the old engine parts were disassembled and cleaned with Castrol's Super Clean solvent. Wear gloves. This stuff can be nasty with prolonged exposure. Don't let aluminum parts soak even for a few minutes it will start attacking the aluminum. Clean the aluminum part and wash with soap and water immediately. I did a test with a unusable head and let it soak overnight. It wasn't a pretty picture in the morning. |
