My bird has emerged from the
coop and saw the light of day for the first time!
The owner of this house is
returning from Florida tomorrow. I thank Mr. Dube for letting me use his
garage for the past 5 months.
Imagine, all this except the
spars, completed in 5 months and I'm not retired.

The new Hangars at the Nashua
Airport (KASH) are not finished yet so I have to store my bird with
a friend who is building a RV-8 until they are completed. While I wait
I will put the first engine together and make some control brackets. I
removed the landing gear and loaded N323XL on to the back of my truck
for the 2 mile journey to the temporary garage. After it was strapped
down I wanted to see how it rode on the back of the truck. I went down
the highway for two exits, ( you should have seen the looks I got! )

I stopped at Mickey D's for
lunch. I sat inside and watched the people as they drove by. It was hilarious.
I am also contemplating loading it up and driving to the next gathering.
By that time I may need a trailer as the gear, stub wings, dash, canopy,
and engine should be finished. There are not too many partially complete
KRs that attend. The outboard wings are planned for next winter to complete
and hopefully flying by mid summer of 2002.

It has been two months without
being able to work on my bird for lack of some building space. I have
been working on the corvair engine though. Hopefully I will be in to one
of the new hangars at Nashua Airport soon with a builder of a RV-8.
